Crusaders Win Dorchester Parade

DCN June 19, 1963 issue

DORCHESTER, MASS., June 8 - In what was probably one of the best-run events of its kind in the Boston area to date, the Boston Crusaders walked off with first place at the annual Dorchester Invitational Parade held here today. Parade president was John Madden.

In the Drum Corps class, the Crusaders were followed by the St. Kevin's Emerald Knights and St. Mary's Cardinals of Beverly. St. Kevin's also received a special float award.

The best band was St. William's of Dorchester, followed by Amvets Post # 51. The Gatesmaids Drill Team of South Boston captured first place in this category, while St. Peter's C.Y.O. were runners-up and Post # 48 of Winthop was third.

The parade was made all the more enjoyable by the efficient manner in which it was run and by the attentive respect accorded the marchers by those watching, a fact which was noted by Mr. Madden. (Results courtesy of J. Bolara)
