*A message from NanciD

Hello, All !

First things, first. I must apologize for not responding to all my emails. Quite frankly, I'm overwhelmed. Perhaps I should open another Blog... just for conversations about my MAIN Blog?
I knew that... *If you build it, they will come*. But, sheesh... you folks overloaded me! (That's a good thing!) I just feel bad that I haven't responded to very many. There are reasons for this. But, to make this short and sweet, and allow me to get back to spending my limited typing time on entering the articles and pics that you *really* want.... Let me try and sum up an answer to (all or at least most of) your emails.

SO many people have sent me emails of thanks / appreciation, WOW!! A few, calling me a True Drum Corps Nut (yes. I believe, I'm certifiable!) At any rate..... My Pleasure!!!
I really do appreciate all the detailed emails.... However, if you have details to share that are pertinent to the articles / shows / uniforms please post on here under the comment section that follows each entry.

How else will the now and future generations know the details , progress, etc. of our history. Explain what *OTL* stands for. Explain what colors a corps is wearing in a picture. Explain how a corps emerged / merged.... if a corps is only mentioned by its' Post #, by all means... give the actual name of the corps. If you marched that year and you want to shout it out... Go for it! If your Dad wrote an article.... shout about it! If you were in a pic., tell us where. Are you still involved? Tell us where!! Add anything pertinent to carry on the history. That is what this site is all about!! (Ok... I'm sure you get the idea)

Just to let you all know.... I'm not a typist by any means. I type with 2, maybe three fingers at a time. And many of these '62 and '63 articles I'm typing for the first time... so, these may take a little while.... Bear with me. I also have arthritis in both hands and I can now add carpal tunnel... but, that is not to play a sympathy card, by any means... it's simply to help you to understand where I'm coming from. At any rate, I'm dedicated to getting all of this out here to share. Some of these I've never typed up before (like these 1962 DCNs), as we progress, I may add a whole bunch in one day. (I have lots of 60s and 70s already typed up waiting to be posted here)

Many of you have offered to send me your publications to add in. That is a very wonderful gesture!! But! Before we do that and go through all the postage and such.... not to mention the wear and tear on these brittle papers.... Stick, with me, year by year. I'm about to start copying DCN September 12, 1962, if you have any of the missing issues of DCN 1962.... shoot me a detailed description of what you have and we'll take it from there. And I thank you very much in advance!!

I'm not sure how you all found this site, but, I'm glad you did. I made several announcements on different Drum Corps News Groups... but, many have been referred by friends as well... at any rate... I've been enjoying my collection of publications for many decades.... I think all should be able to look through, read about, relive, learn, live and help pass on the knowledge/ history within these publications. I have boxes of them... decades of them...

I had been searching for a way to share these treasures for a very long time. (Other than at reunions or parties or what have you) I thought perhaps a Blog would work very well, but, I'm not very techy, so I asked Lee Rudnicki (he has a few blogs) if it would work. The rest is history.... cause, here we are!

So, anyway, when I found this blogspot... the closest box of publications was this one, and it starts with a handful of Drum Corps News (DCN) from 1962. These are not my *only* publications and not my earliest. These were just handiest at the time. So, this is where I started. I have much earlier publications and publications on up through the years. (Not all complete collections, but, many... none the less) These are not going to be just DCNs. I have Program books, flyers, city news clippings (that hosted shows), old *Legionnaire newspapers....etc....
I'm, third generation drum corps folk in my family.....
And although my mother's obsession of being a pack rat usually drives me crazy..... As it turns out.... she has brought much pleasure to us all!! Go Mom!! Woo Hoo!!

I have been looking up info for many years for both individual people and for websites.... Corpsreps (for example) is listed in my *links* section. I originally wanted it all in one place and corpsreps was my choice.... but, that was too difficult. Now we are working together and we are linking the scores / shows with the actual writeups / pics. For example: If you are looking up the *March of Champions* (Connecticut show) for 1962 in the *Corpsreps* section titled *Score Archives* ..... it'll take you here: http://www.corpsreps.com/scores.cfm?view=scoreshow&showid=1962195
Now, look under the score table. In my opinion... this is the next best thing to keeping it all in one spot. (Please note... there are two links to read, because two writers had printings of their opinions of that particular show.)

I've been asked if this will be a *searchable* site. Yes. But gimme a month... I'm new at this and my main focus is to get the *content* out here. I have one more issue from 1962 to type up and then into '63..... Once I get some of the '63s in here.... then I can start tagging them. Once I get the tagging thing down.... then I can add in any year I feel like at whim. Right now, I'm going in order till I can get it all straightened out. I may end up changing the format.... but, it won't change the links. So, it's all good. It'll just take some time. And I will be conferring with a group of people on the best / easiest way to make this all searchable. Don't get too excited.... I don't plan on breaking this down too minutely. These are all publications. They will be categorized as such.

Yes, later down the road a bit... I may add other drum corps links... but for now, as I said earlier, my focus is on the main content of this site.

Speaking of the content of this site: My main focus is on the articles and pics and eventually the letters to the editor..... with a few ads thrown in if they aren't too big.

ummm.... let's see.... what else haven't I covered yet....
Oh. No, I'm not marching in or involved with any corps at this time. Although, I'm told that a spot (or two) have my name on them for an Alumni Corps. LOL

I'm sure that I am forgetting things but.... now, I hope you get the gist of things.

I promise to be better at answering email in the future... I just simply got bogged down. I must say.... I am SO glad that you folks are enjoying this! Please keep the emails coming..... if it's possible, they do actually fuel my fire!! Thanx SO much!!! I love reading them.... but, as you can see... there usually isn't just a quick answer.

PS: The Diceman Radio links on my site...... I Love to DJ(and I have the power. LOL), if you have a particular corps / year, that you'd like to hear... shoot me an email and if I'm online and we have it (most likely, we do) I'll gladly play it for you! I listen and DJ as I work and play! (Well, how would you do it?)

(I can't wait til next weekend.... I need a fix SO bad!!) And I'll be with my Mother and my daughter both, Woo Hoo!! Three generations of Drum Corps together... look what you started Grampa! Hope you are watching from above!

This is short and sweet?? Heh..
