Doc was one of the nicest folks I ever met during my drum corps years. He worked at a music store on Park Row in lower Manhattan when I met him in 1959 or 1960. I'd come in to buy a pair of drum sticks and he paid as much attention to my needs as someone who'd come in to outfit an entire drum line. That's just how he was.

My dad was the drum major for the Gabarina Skyliners in the '50s. I spent many a happy day in Doc's store while my dad and he talked of the "old days". Doc and Dad are gone but certainly not forgotten

NanciD - Sorry about this ultra late reply. My dad was Artie Olson. After Gabarina he went on to be the drum major for the Sons of Liberty. I joined him in the Sons for a couple of years before the draft and the rest of life interfered.
