How old school cool is this?!
Talk about camaraderie?!

Hmmm... this was very doable back then cause everyone lived locally.

For those that may not know... the Author here is Steve's father. Steve is one of Cab's Alumni sop soloists!

The games continued through ther 60's and into the early 70's, as
Garfield was very close to Hawthorne.

One VERY sad outcome occurred in the fall of 1971 after the game. Our
great DM Richie Chirichella broke his leg at the game. All seemed
fine...he hobbled around Montclair State on crutches for a couple of
weeks (I believe he was a senior Math Ed major)....

Sadly, he threw a blood clot which moved to his heart and he died
instantly.

The wake was one of the saddest days I have ever experienced...he was
laid out in his DM uni, with his shako, gloves, and baton (he was an
early user of a conductor's baton) arrayed on the bottom half of his
coffin.

The entire corps came into the room and sang the Holy Name song one
more time for Richie...I still get chills thinking about it.

Mike, Garfield 70-72
