Hi, my name is Cat...just found this site and believe I am in the picture.
Would dearly love to get in touch with others from the Lionettes. I am now a marching member of the Preston Scout House Alumni band in Cambridge and have been marching again for 4 years after a 43 year hiatus from the Lionettes.
If there's anybody out there, my email address is:

when was this pic taken? I was in the lionettes 1963-65 My brother was in the sertomenairs wonderful memories. I liked drum corps better when they were just drum and bugle. I was on rifle until my brother won solo competition at nationals. They put me in the horn line on baritone. I loved it.

Photo is pre-1961, when I quit. Recognize Suzette, Drum majorette, in her "break-out" uniform that popped eyes when we took the field. I believe I'm tenor drum in middle. I was one of 2-3 from Port Huron. I'm searching because my sister & I were sure we were seeing former member [50 years later last night.

MY NAME is Angelina PAKVIS,and both my sister, Teresa and I werein the lionettes in our pre-teen years.
We both played 3rd Soprano Bugles and practised music with a music teacher from Scits named Mr. Jollyin un upper floor of a cold, and drafty building that used to be near the corner of Lochiel and Front St.
We did marching practise in a mosquito filled field somewhere as well as at Norm Perry Park where we also did parades every year.
Some of the songs we played (1967)CANADA, Ontario-Give us a Place to Stand, What a Difference a Day Makes--which always made the crowds stand up and cheer.
We were one of the last all-girl marching bands from Sarnia and competed against The Marching Anggels , run by Jack Mann's son, Bill Mann (estr4anged, at the time from his Dad) as well as the Sertominaires, who I believe was either an all-boy band or a mixed band.
We travelledbeween cities on bumpedy old school buses, with infrequent bathroom stops (boy how we suffered, at times),wore wool uniforms,TallGold and Burgundy Hats with a feather plume on top and white leather boots with a plume on each boot.
We would have to take salt tablets in the summer before long parade marches in the scortching heat and sometimes girls would drop on the fields from heat exhaustion. LIONETTES taught us to be fierce, proud, and tough.I am proud to have been a part of marching band history in the Sarnia area!

Jack Mann owned the Lionettes back then. We Marched parades in town, in Marion, Ohio, inOttawa, Sault St. Marie,Port Huron.
I remember Judy Davidson from Port Huron, Lee Haslip

Hi, my name is Brenda and I was a Lionette from 1968 until 1972. We had our corps hall under the bridge in Point Edward and practises were also held at the Kenwick hall in downtown Sarnia. Jack Mann ran the corps with an iron fist and Bill Charlick handled our press, George taught the horn line and Jim taught the drum line until Norm Campbell took over. Estelle was our drum major and Lee Haslip was her assistant. Eventually they left and Kathy Campbell and Roseanne O'Connor took over their duties, Kathy was so young and so little but she did an amazing job. Janet Rudys was our award winning guard captain with Debbie Kellar assisting her. Several of our stars included Terry Stonehouse, Mary Matts, Lois Woodham, Alice McDonald, Nancy Davis, Cathy Kellar, the list goes on. We had drill camp at Lambrecton every spring and we worked hard. We travelled extensively through Michigan New York and Ontario. These were some of the best years of my life and I only wish that there were corps here for my grandchildren.Where else could you learn music, marching, discipline and travel for what was it? Five bucks a month! What dedication did Jack Mann have, amazing!! The chaperones were awesome, Pearl and Jean and all of them, you could go to them with anything, how many gym floors did we sleep on and how many ham sandwiches did we eat?? Great memories, the best!!

Hi My name is Cecile. I was in the Lionettes in 1967 during centenial and stayed until 1972. It is great to hear there is a reunion in the works. Lots of overnight road trips. They were the best times. I was on baritone and then played drum for the last 2 years. Great friends were Debbie and Cheryl, Alice, Lois, Esther, Lee, and all the friends we made along the way. Looking forward to the reunion

My name is Jeanette McLean from Toronto, Ontario. My Uncle was John Mann, and my cousin Bill Mann. I remember my Uncle giving me one of the batons from the band and taking baton lessons. However we lived in Belle River, so I could never be part of the band. I lived in Sarnia in the 70's and loved it. I would love to go to the reunion, as I feel I had a small attachment to the band. My Uncle was a wonderful person, and so dedicated to the Lionettes..

My name is Shirley(Mann)Morgan, and I hope to be at this reunion. I think the group that have started this reunion, should get a great big hug and well wishes from all the band members that ever started with any band in the city of Sarnia. All the groups of bands deserve a great clapping of hands to help put Sarnia on the map and to show other cities what marching bands is all about. I enjoyed my time in the band with Jack Mann my uncle, and also Dolores Mann, Jack's daughter was in the band also. I think all the bands of Sarnia, have been great in their marching and playing music. Its not easy to march and play at the same time,
