Historical Drum Corps Publications
A permanent home to share my family collection of Drum Corps publications. My Mom started this collection in the 40s. This is my labor of love. I hope you all enjoy these articles / scores / pictures... as much as we have over the decades. History must be preserved. This is my lil corner / contribution to the drum corps community (online). A place for all of us to live, relive, learn, love and share in our passionate hobby. Please feel free to add comments, share your experiences, stories, etc.

The thing I remember most about that uniform is that great big chrome buckle on the sash. That, and it was almost always in the winners circle.
1967 Fenway Park Boston. American Legion Nationals. I'm walking down a dark corridor in the bowels of Fenway. There they were starting to get ready. The Green Machine. You can hear the corps on the field at the time, but it doesn't matter. You're staring at "THEM". Wondering what it must feel like to be that kind of winner consistantly. Wondering how they do it over and over again.
Twenty minutes later, I'm at the top of Fenway and they explode into Bully. Except for the Cavies, you can hear a pin drop. All eyes and ears fixed on that special drum corps on that baseball field. Bully echoes off the walls of Fenway and the hair on the back of you neck raises like a circus tent and a chill runs down your spine like a bolt of lightning. Rainbows at the end bounce off the Fenway rafters, and you wish it would never end, but it has to. The gun goes off and you have just witnessed one of the most amazing performances you will ever see.
They win over the Bad-ass Boston Crusaders in their own back yard, after placing a meager 4th in prelims. The Green Machine always saves the best for last.
The rest is history.
Well, it'll be a while yet... I'm just starting on the last DCN issue of 1963. I'm just really glad that folks are enjoying and adding in their memories, facts, describing uni colors, etc...
So, hang in there! And Thanx!
