Hard to believe Nardelli from SAC came in 8th place. 1 thru 7 must have wailed away to beat him. Heard a story about a showdown between Nardelli and Billy Cobham from the Queensmen. They were just warming up in the parking lot before the contest, and it got rough.
I hear Nardelli started playing on a sunflower plant like a chain saw, and Cobham countered on the water in a fountain. Maybe it was the other way around, but no matter. They were both great

Those of us from the east would agree with Anonymous that anyone who could beat Nardelli must have been something else. Well, as it happens, about a year later, I had the pleasure of playing with Markovich and Middleton. Wow! Both were truly incredible, perhaps even better that I. Sorenson also seem a little too far back. I believe he won in later years.
