Skyliners / Garbarina *Regards To Broadway*

Picture was taken and donated by Harry Hazelwood

Nanci, attached is a photo that I took of a plaque that is embedded in the sidewalk in front of 80 Broadway in lower Manhattan (NYC). The plaque commemorates Garbarina's winning the 1949 American Legion nationals.

And then Ray Priester added:

The plaques are all along Lower Broadway on both sides of the street and they commemorate every group or individual who ever had a ticker tape parade held in their honor. I was contacted by the city about 10 or 12 years ago to verify the information (as Post Commander). I was told that as soon as the project was funded they would start to install them. Gabby's was among the first ones installed.

It is truly an honor extended to those men who put down the roots of the Skyliners. All who followed are their legacy. Thanks to all of them.

60 years later, we are still here!

Perhaps this was never published anywhere.... But, I feel it is a huge piece of History that should be shared on here and not overlooked. Many Thanx to Harry and Ray for the pic. and the info.
